9 Important questions to ask a deck contractor BEFORE you hire them!

You will need to ask many questions before signing a contract with a deck contractor. This step is especially true if you live in an area where you are not allowed to use non-conforming or composite decking materials or are unable to build on the ground. Composite decking cost is more significant but may last longer with less maintenance. Composite decking may also be greener than another decking, and easier for deck building. Hardwoods, on the other hand, are more visually and olfactory pleasing, and this may be an option.
  1. What type of decking material will I be using? - Deck design construction material varies greatly. Your deck contractor Marietta should be able to provide you with quality materials from all over the world. Some companies specialize in hardwood decks, while others work exclusively with engineered hybrid products. Again, composite decking cost is going to higher, and a contractor should tell this. You may also want to inquire about custom-made products and the type of warranty they offer.
  2. How many individuals will be working on my project? - As with any large project, you should be told how many people engage in completing your deck design or deck replacement construction project. This will give you a reasonable estimate of how much it will cost you to employ this deck contractor Marietta, and whether you should choose a less expensive crew or one with a higher hourly rate.
  3. How long have you been in business? - Many contractors are proven in the local construction industry and only begin offering professional deck builder Marietta after having worked there for several years.
  4. What kind of liability insurance does your company carry? - If you have a small child that slips or falls on your deck construction, you will want to know how well the contractor carries insurance against lawsuits.
  5. What kind of bonding has your company undertaken? - If you are doing a re-decking project, you will want to ask what kind of special bonding has been done by the contractor. This process will give you a good gauge of how well a contractor has dealt with past situations.
  6. What kind of warranty is available about custom-made items? - Even if you are using a licensed and insured deck contractor, there may be some instances when the deck construction materials are damaged. You will want to inquire as to how long the company has been in business and how it will be held responsible should something go wrong with the deck construction.
  7. What are the size and depth of the deck? - The length of time to construct a single deck depends on the size of the deck, so you will want to ask how long the average deck takes to build. Also, ask if the contractor can recommend a contractor that will do the work at a significantly reduced price.
  8. What kind of timber is used in your hardwood decks? - The type of wood used in your deck can affect the quality of the finished product, so you should choose carefully.
  9. What do you recommend for my project? - This is an important question for many homeowners since the type of project will help determine what kind of decking material should be used, which in turn affects the materials the contractor will recommend. Should there be a deck replacement, or will there be deck building? Check with your local deck builder Marietta for more information.

Decks can be both unsupported and joined, and both offer various benefits and impediments. Contingent upon the format of your home, a joined deck might be a simple component to add, or it might wind up with an awkward position. Then again, unsupported decks will in general add less to your home estimation yet are simpler to make. Contingent upon the design of your home, there may likewise be a value contrast included.

In the event that you need your deck to keep going quite a while and stay in great condition, you must look after it. We're so glad you elaborated on what to ask a contractor before choosing one for our deck project. Last week, my wife and I were invited to a BBQ party, and we just loved our friend's house and its deck. My wife and I want to have our own deck too, so we'll be sure to follow your hiring tips to find a contractor next week. Thank you so much for the advice on checking a contractor's warranties when interviewing one.

Now add all the fence figures together and we find we need 135' of fencing required. Posts-If we know the fencing we have chosen comes in 6 ' lengths we will need a post every 6' feet and each side of each gate. A little math shows we need 25 posts. One post every 6', plus one extra to hold the 3' gate. WRITE it down. You will use approximately one bag of bagged concrete per post for anything over 4' high. These are your basic materials plus some misc. nails and scrap lumber for braces are also required. Go purchase your items and place in the area they are to be installed.

Meeting with your deck contractors face-to-face can help you determine if the vision you’d previously discussed over the phone aligns with the reality of what can actually be done.
